Prayer for The People of The United States and Its Leaders

Most gracious and loving God, we offer our prayers of thanksgiving to you for
your blessings and providence for our nation. You have blessed this nation and its
leaders to be a beacon for love and justice throughout its history over the two centuries.
Help us always to remember your blessing and generosity. Enrich our lives by
ever-widening circles of loving care to each other and show us your presence in
those who are different from us until our knowledge of your love is made perfect
in our love for all your people.
Though we may speak different languages or descend from different races,
give us common concern, so that we may be one people. Encourage us to live
together caring for one another in peace and justice. We offer our thanks for the
astonishing gifts of diversity of races and cultures in our land.
Oh God, help our national leaders to have compassion for all people. Take away
the arrogance and hatred that infect our hearts and break down the walls that separate
us. Unite us in bond of love, and to work to accomplish your purpose in this nation
and around the world.
May our leaders be led by your wisdom. May they search your will and see it clearly.
If we turn away from your ways, help us to reverse our ways and repent. Give us your
light and your truth to accomplish your will on earth as it is in heaven.
