프로그램 참가자 몇분이 소개한 프로그램을 여기에 소개합니다.

1. 목회자 슈퍼비전 클라스 - 고창주목사 -
안녕하세요? 김창길 목사님을 멘토로 모시고, 목회수퍼비전 모임을 갖고 있는 고창주 목사입니다. 저희 목회수퍼비전 모임은 매월 1회 수도원에서 정기모임을 가집니다.약 3시간 정도의 시간을, 목회현장에서 일어나는 제반 경험들을 서로 나누고 조언을 주고 받고, 또한 기도해주는 시간으로 갖고 있습니다.
이 모임은 처음, 2013년 3월에 제가 예수사랑교회에 부임을 해오면서부터 시작되었습니다. 저희 교회의 담임목사 청빙 과정 중에 설교목사로 섬겨주셨던 김창길 목사님께서 젊은 후배 목사를 사랑하시는 마음으로 부정기적으로 만나 격려해주시고, 목사님의 30년 넘게 해오신 이민목회의 소중한 경험들을 나누어주시고, 기도해주시는 만남으로부터 시작이 된 것입니다. 그러다가 2014년 연초에, 이레교회 김영철 목사님께서 함께 참여하면서 목회수퍼비전 모임이 정기적인 수도원 모임으로 자리를 잡게 된 것입니다. 현재는, 예수사랑교회를 담임하는 저 고창주목사와 이레교회를 담임하시는 김영철목사님, Little Falls UMC 미국교회를 담임하시는 이우민목사님, 선한이웃교회를 담임하시는 정인식 목사님, 커네티컷중앙연합감리교회를 담임하시는 김정환목사님, 이렇게 다섯 명의 젊은 목회자들이 김창길 목사님과 함께 하고 있습니다.
외롭고 힘든 이민목회의 현장에서 개신교 수도원 수도회는 이처럼, 우리 젊은 목회자들의 쉼과 위로와 재충전의 장을 제공해주고 있고, 김창길목사님께서는 연배로는 저희들의 아버지뻘 되시는 분이시지만 젊은 목회자들이 스스럼없이 흉금을 털어놓을 수 있는 따뜻한 멘토가 되어주시고 계십니다. 저희 수퍼비전 모임에 함께 하실 수 있는 대상은 30~40대의 담임목사입니다. 주변에 해당되는 목사님들에게 추천해 주시고, 또한 저희들의 미래목회를 위하여 기도해주시면 감사하겠습니다.
2. 여목사/사모 성경연구회 - 박효숙사모 -
안녕하세요? '김에스더 목사님과 함께하는 성경공부반'의 박효숙사모입니다. 우리 에스더 성경공부반은 지치고 힘들 때, 자신을 넘어서 볼 수 있도록 힘이 되어 줍니다. 절망감에 빠져 있을 때, 희망을 다시 심어 줍니다. 사방이 다 막혀 있어 갈 곳을 모르고 헤맬 때 하늘이 열려있음을 알게 해줍니다. 사람들에게서 마음을 닫고 있을 때, 교제 속에 치유의 힘이 있음을 알게 해줍니다. 혼자가 아님을, 서로가 도움을 받아야 할 사람임을 깨닫게 해줍니다. 그리고 주님께서 우리의 힘이 되시고, 피난처가 되시며, 지금부터 영원히 우리와 함께 하심을 깨닫게 해줍니다.
우리는 혼자가 아닙니다. 우리를 아껴주는 사람들이 있습니다. 함께 한다는 사실이 우리에게 희망입니다. 우리에게 위로가 필요 할 때 거창한 계획을 세우거나 할 필요는 없습니다. 단지 "함께 하고 싶어요." 라고 말하시기만 하면 됩니다.
에스더목사님이 이끄시는 성경공부반에 여러분을 초대합니다. 주님의 사랑과 예쁜 마음들이 모인 공동체에 오셔서 영적인 키가 쑥쑥 자라가는 것을 경험하시길 바랍니다. 다음은 우리의 마음이 담겨져 있는 찬양입니다.

3. 구도자 성경공부반 - 이우석집사 -
안녕하세요 PAM 구도자 성경공부반에 대해 잠시 나누고자 이 자리에 나왔습니다 몇년 전 목사님께서 한번 참석해 보라는 권유를 계기로 지금까지 하나님 말씀을 듣고 배우고자 믿음의 학교에 참석하고 있습니다. 매주 성경구절에 나오는 인물들의 이야기가 저와 비슷한 점이 많다는걸 느낄때가 많습니다. 겁쟁이..욕심쟁이..시기와 질투 등 바리새인과 같은 내자신을 보게 됩니다 다른이에게 심지어 가족인 아내에게까지 감추고 싶은 벌거벗은 나의 모습이 살아있는 하나님 말씀 안에 있는 인물들과 많이 닮았다고 주님께 고백하는 시간입니다. 방금 태어난 아기에서 걸음마를 할 수 있게 인내하면서 보호해주신 부모님의 마음과 사랑으로 말씀을 듣고 깨우시는 귀한 시간입니다. 이민생활에서 지치고 낙심될 때마다 큰 위로와 힘과 용기로 다시 나아가게 하는 원동력은 말씀이었습니다."사랑하는 자여 네 영혼이 잘됨같이 네가 범사에 잘되고 강건하기를 내가 간구하노라 "(요한삼서 1 : 2) 저희 가정이 살고 있는 동네는 업스테잇 뉴욕에 위치한 작은 시골입니다. 겨울이면 뉴저지 보다는 눈이 더 내릴 때가 있습니다. 몇주 전에 눈이 많이 내렸습니다 눈의 무게로 몇몇 나무들이 쓰러져 있는 것을 보게 되었습니다. 튼튼하게 생긴 큰 나무 밑의 뿌리는 너무나도 얇은 것이 신기할 정도였습니다.나의 신앙생활도 이런 건 아닌지 주님께 고백하는 귀한 시간이었습니다. 뿌리가 깊게 내리지 못한 나무는 보기에는 튼튼하고 견고한 것 같은데 언제라도 눈폭풍이 내리면 쓰러지고 일어나질 못합니다. PAM 평신도 성경공부반은 이와같이 하루하루 살아가면서 뿌리가 깊게 내리도록 예수님의 음성을 듣는 귀한 시간입니다. 늘 기도와 말씀으로 믿음을 심어주며 깨닫게 하시려고 수고하시는 영적인 어머님과 같은 김에스더 목사님과 김창길 목사님께 감사를 드립니다. 중보기도와 말씀을 함께 배우는 집사님분들께도 감사합니다. "복 있는 사람은 악인의 꾀를 따르지 아니하며, 죄인의 길에 서지 아니하며, 오만한 자의 자리에 앉지 아니하며, 오로지 주님의 율법을 즐거워하며, 밤낮으로 율법을 묵상하는 사람이다. 그는 시냇가에 심은 나무가 철따라 열매를 맺으며 그 잎이 시들지 아니함 같으니,하는 일마다 잘 될 것이다" (시편 1:1-3)
4. Mark's Gospel Class (For English Speakers)

Good afternoon everyone. My name is Mythyl or Mai for short. I'm here today to share to you about our bible study that is headed by Pastor Esther as part of the Protestant Abby Ministry program. It all started when my friend Mikyoung invited me to do bible study since she noticed that I no longer go to Sunday meetings frequently due to my work schedule. At first I was hesitant to commit, but I soon realized that it was an answered prayer. I remember 2 years ago, before I came here in America, I prayed that if it is God's will that I will come here and work, He will provide some things on my list of prayer request. Some of the things written on my list was that He will find me a church and a group that I can do bible study. Finally after 2 years, God answered my prayer for a bible study group, and it came just on the right time when I felt spiritually dry and discouraged. Also, it was the right time for me and my husband, it was an opportunity for him to learn more about God through His word on the Bible.
We started our bible study this November and read on the Gospel of Mark . I learned a lot from the book of Mark, but I want to point out three important messages from the Gospel that strikes a cord to me.
First, Mark, the author of the Gospel, describes Jesus as a suffering servant - who came to serve and suffer and not to be served. JesusЎ life as a servant is a great example and ought to be followed.
I remember back home in the Philippines, my parents can afford to pay somebody to help us in the house. I pretty much live a comfortable life. But when I came here in America I had to do everything by myself. I also had to help my cousin from doing household chores and helping her kids from their school works in spite being exhausted from work. It was just my simple way of thanking her for generously opening her home for me to stay.
In my professional life, as nurse, it constantly required me to serve my patient or residents and often times it was not easy. I was burned out from work. But somehow our Bible study and reading about Jesus' life allowed me a moment to reflect on my life and view my situation differently. It actually made me continue to serve joyfully in spite the hardship encountered at work and in life in general.
Second, I learned that after Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan River, at once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, to be tempted by Satan. Jesus was on his spiritual peak when he was tempted. As Christians often times we actually get tempted when we are on our spiritual peak.
When everything is going wellЎ. After my first bible study session, I was so happy. I felt spiritual revival. But later that day I was suddenly filled with grief because a family member said some hurtful things about me. It was painful because I did not expect those hurtful words coming from her. My natural instinct was to fight back and my emotions overwhelmed me to almost sin.
I cried and I started to be filled with hate. I asked God why of all people, a close family would do it to me. At the end of the day, I was thankful that my Dad called me from the Philippines and offered comfort through God's word. He made me remember to simply forgive. Third, I learned that Jesus was constantly tempted and his final victory was in the cross.
We learned that God allows temptation/trial/tribulation to strengthen us, and whatever temptation we can win, because God wins. God always provide a way out - His promise of victory.
As a young Christian, I constantly battle temptation - big or small. From seemingly "harmless" things as excessive watching of television shows and movies, constantly on the internet and other social form of media. To being driven by work, success, and the constant need of financial stability, and so many other things that takes our time away from God. As I reflect on my life, the trials I have encountered and others to come, I feel so blessed that our loving Father in heaven continue to provide me strength to overcome it. I might not win all the temptations that I had in my life but it is by His grace that I am still here - continuing to fight and being transformed, and ultimately win.
5. Marriage and Family Life Bible Study
(for English speakers) - Vincent Lee -
My name is Vincent Lee and I wanted to share with you today some of the benefits we experienced, through God, from the Protestant Abbey Mission and the program we enrolled in, Christian marriage bible study.
The important curriculum is for newlyweds and existing married couples interested in a wholesome and life enriching experience through bible study and marital course work.
Our bible teacher, Pastor Esther, graciously showed us the will and way that God wants a man and woman, husband and wife, father and mother and his expectation in matrimony.
Each Thursday our curriculum was to meet with our teacher and work through a careful selection of bible passages, a marital textbook and open discussion. From this we experienced and learned the importance of being husband and wife before God and the expectation that God had for us. It also encouraged us to consistently revisit our original desires to be husband and wife. This important class and bible study is one of the many important programs that the Abbey mission has to offer and is part of the growing infrastructure that can be found here that benefits all children in Christ.
We thank God, the Protestant Abbey Mission, and Rev. Chang Kil Kim and Pastor Esther in their devotion to their stewards and their flock in Christ. May God bless them all. Thank you.
