Rev. Debra Given is the pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Leonia (PCUSA). She graduated from Yale Divinity School (M.Div.) in 1980 and served two churches as Associate Pastor for Family and Youth Ministry before coming to Leonia in 2000. She is also currently serving as the Moderator of the Palisades Presbytery, and is on the Presbytery¡s Council Committee on Emerging Faith Communities. Rev. Given grew up in a Presbyterian Church, but has been part of many different kinds of churches, from Quaker to Harlem Baptist. She is married to Tom Phillips, former Professor of Journalism at Columbia University and retired writer and editor of the CBS Evening News. They have six grown children and stepchildren and seven grandchildren.
